Main Supporting mobile Internet

Development of mobile phone technology have contributed to the development of internet popularity in the world. Based on Yahoo's annual research TNS Net Index, mobile phones are known to take over the role of internet cafes (cafe) since last year.

Today, the Internet access of cell phones are becoming the dominant tool used by the user with the achievement of 62 percent.

Contribution in the growth of mobile internet can also be seen from the increasing use of mobile phones for internet access. If in the year 2011 recorded the use of 8 hours per week, now a 10 hour per week in 2012.

Use of the internet puts the phone into the second most popular medium after television. Even the internet to beat the traditional communication media that have been entrenched in the community, such as newspapers, radio, magazines, and cinema.

"People use more time with the phone," said Hansal Savla, Technical Advisor TNS.

Internet access via mobile phones are also known to beat internet access via laptop using WiFi, internet cafes and in public spaces.

Increased use of mobile phones are also due to increased ownership of smart phones (smartphones) and advanced phone features that are still affordable. "The contribution is still dominant feature phones to access the Internet while 10 percent decreased from 96 percent last year to 86 percent today," said Jhoni Tuerah, Associate Client Advisor TNS.

Meanwhile, smart phones, plus Jhoni, experienced an upward trend reaching 12 percent, from 8 percent in 2011 to 20 percent in 2012. As for the phone features, Jhoni describes, category that is viewed from the side of a given feature phone that has a limited ability to access the internet though.

Achievement of access through smart phones are still on top of the tablet. Even so, the tablet also increased the use of the access from 2 percent in 2011 to 7 percent in 2012.

With the trend of development of access through mobile phones, Yahoo hopes the company's advertisers have to see and adjust to the current digital trends.
